Create, Survive and Be Victorious
For those unfamiliar with this legendary game, Minecraft is a sandbox video game created by developer Markus Persson. It was then released by Mojang in 2011 and later purchased by Microsoft in 2014. Selling over 180 million copies worldwide, it’s now the second best-selling video game of all time behind Tetris.
In this game, players are given the freedom to create anything they wish through blocks and other items. At first glance, the gameplay might be simple enough, but after you play through it, you’ll discover many things. For instance, you can combine a lot of blocks to form another block. Those are just some of the complexities that make this game more interesting than it looks. For this article, we’ll dive more into it.
Diverse Game Modes
As with a lot of games, Minecraft offers different game modes to make things more interesting. We’ll breakdown each mode to give you a sense of what it’s like playing each of them. Later on, we’ll give tips on how to play Minecraft. Excited? Read on!
Survival Mode – In this mode, players need to collect natural resources to stay alive. Blocks such as wood and stone are necessary to create shelter and other things needed to survive. The goal is to build a shelter, survive and find a way to protect yourself against monsters. Yes, creeps spawn in the dark so be sure to build your shelter first before anything.
Be careful as you can die from natural causes such as suffocation, drowning, falls and other things in here. You’ll also get hungry in this mode so be sure to stock up on some food and build sustainable farms that’ll allow you to survive indefinitely. It has varying degrees of difficulties such as the hardcore mode which permanently deletes the world once the player dies. This isn’t for the faint of heart!
Creative Mode – Unlike in survival mode, you have access to everything in this mode. You can fly throughout the map to find the best places to craft anything you want. You also don’t die in here because the goal of this mode is to make you create anything you want. You can practice your crafting, smelting and combining skills in here as long as you want.
You don’t have to worry about monsters attacking you or other players trying to steal your goodies. All you have to do is let your creativity run wild and create beautiful homes, buildings, heck – even castles!
Adventure Mode – The Adventure Mode is created to let players experience the world created by others. The way this works is that depending on the restrictions set by the creator, you need to abide by those rules to survive in this mode.
But the beauty of this mode is that you can explore the stunning creations of other players who made these masterpieces. They usually revolve around a theme such as jungle, concrete cities and many more. You’ll also get to learn a lot by looking at how other top players create worlds and things out of blocks. This is a useful mode to explore if you want to stock up on your Minecraft building knowledge!
Spectator Mode – If you just want to watch other players survive and craft things, you can join in the Spectator mode. In this mode, you’ll be able to fly around through blocks without interfering with the players. You don’t have an inventory or anything. However, you can teleport to other places instantly to take a look at how the players are surviving.
Multiplayer – If you want to play with your friends or strangers, you can do so through the Multiplayer mode. In this mode, you can host a server or join one. The great thing about this mode is you need to survive. On top of that, you can fight other players and steal their resources for your own. Think of it like the “Hunger Games” where you are left to fend for yourself.

Crouch – If you want to go over the edge of something but you can’t do so because you might fall, try crouching. This will help you get around difficult surfaces.
